Dart stands for Dallas Area Rapid Transit and the photo of the ‘reclining man’ is one of three sculptures located near the Dallas Arts District. Area newspapers have had a field day with the argument between the artistic vision strategically placing Dallas as a cultural center and the money spent that could have gone to better transit ticketing and efficiencies.
Personally, I like the strategy. Art in any form creates the face and personality of the City. Art becomes the reflections of the people living there. No matter how structured a MetroPlex, a large City, a Township, a Village, art gives it some serendipity. It allows your mind to have a short vacation while you view it.
What would YOU rather see the money spent for? Do YOU think Art is an important part of a cities plan?
If you are in the Dallas downtown area, go see them for yourself. They are located off Good Latimer in Deep Elm.
