The U.S. Postal service is poised to end Saturday mail delivery perhaps as early as October, the start of the government’s fiscal 2012, despite objections from some of the members of Congress. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), key member of the committee with direct jurisdiction over USPS, frets that the plan will spell a loss of even more business to FedEx, UPS and other private rivals.
Ending Saturday delivery will save the Postal Service $3 billion a year. Sounds good in that there was a net of $8.5 billion last year alone.
I wonder what this means to unemployment? What difference will that make to YOU and your business? How much do you care?
